Green Weekend Fun

May 29, 2009

The world around us is going green, there is no two ways about it.  And I think it's so incredibly wonderful that our children are being educated about how to be environmentally concious.  In both my preschoolers and first graders classes they are being taught about recycling and the importance of helping to maintain the environment. This weekend there is a great event at Fairytale Town that will further teach local children about recycling and a variety of other educational activities.  Check out the info below and have fun while educating your little ones this weekend!

Fairytale Town Goes Green – Young children will be able to learn how to reduce, reuse, and recycle! They will also be able to see works of art made from 100 percent recycled materials, see a puppet show about Jack and the Beanstalk (12:30, 1:30 & 2:30 pm), and watch a theater performance about recycling (Recycle Man, 12 & 2 pm). A variety of booths will be set up to provide information and activities. Farm Fresh To You will offer information on organic farming in the Capay Valley. The e-waste company Y Not Recycle will hand out coupons for free e-waste pick up. Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op will be on-hand to talk about organic food choices. The Sacramento Tree Foundation will display the importance of trees to the environment. And much, much more! 11 am – 3 pm. All ages. General $4.50; Children 2 & under Free. Additional charge for puppet shows $1/$2. Fairytale Town, 3901 Land Park Dr., Sacramento. For more info call 916-808-8886 or visit

When most little ones are more interested in watching Dora, playing train or running around in circles and barking like dogs (as my children are), it can be a challenge to get them to sit still long enough to learn something of value. A great way to give them early  Read more...
